Maybe you are visiting Madrid, your hotel is in our neighbourhood and you have some spare hours to spend, or maybe you lost your flight or maybe a really good friend recommended you to stay close to the airport and you didn’t realize you wouldn’t know what to do in this quiet village that is Barajas Town.
Well…there are several things you could do at our district but I will point one out which I think you shouldn’t miss and is a 15 minutes walk from the main square.
In Barajas, besides from the airport (4 terminals) we have a castle, well its remains, but they are worth visiting. It dates back to the late fourteenth century or the beginnings of the fifteenth century, so before you have your “tapa” and “cervecita” as you were told you should do, lets take a look to the Barajas Castle.
Where is it? It’s in the middle of the district and at a walking distance of all the main hotels (except the airport). You can go walking from the main square in 15 minutes, or take a bus (115 or 105).
The entry is free though it’s opened only in weekends and bank holidays (April to September from 10 to 21 hs and October to March from 10 to 18 hs). But if it is not your case, you can go anyway and take a good look from the outside.
Here you have the history of the Castle so you can read before hand and well traslated, because sadly at the castle, all the signs are in Spanish. Enjoy!
